Why people pick mateshare over Kittysplit
No headcount limit
Kittysplit's free groups top out at 9 people, so a big share house, a buck's weekend or a footy trip means paying to upgrade. mateshare has no cap on mates, tabs or expenses.
Nothing to pay per group
Kittysplit charges a one-off fee for each group you upgrade. mateshare has no paid tier at all, so every new tab is free.
All your tabs in one place
Kittysplit groups live behind separate links. With mateshare, your rent, trips and dinners sit in one account, and what you owe each mate is netted across all of them.
Built for Australian share houses
Amounts are in dollars, and when it's time to settle up on your phone you can jump straight into CommBank, NAB, Westpac, ANZ, ING, St.George and more, then tick the payment off.

Is mateshare right for you?

Questions
Is mateshare really free?
Yes. There are no paid plans and no per-group fees, and no limits on how many tabs, mates or expenses you add.
How many people can a free Kittysplit group have?
Kittysplit's free plan covers up to 9 people per group. Bigger groups, multiple currencies and receipt attachments need its one-off paid upgrade for that group. Check kittysplit.com for current pricing.
Can I move my Kitty to mateshare?
There's no automatic import yet. The easiest way is to settle up in Kittysplit, then start a fresh tab in mateshare and invite everyone with a link.
Do my mates need an account?
Yes, a quick one. That's what lets mateshare net your balances across every tab. Opening an invite link walks them through it and drops them straight onto the tab.
Does mateshare move money?
No. mateshare keeps track of who owes what. You pay through your own bank (on your phone there are shortcuts to the big Aussie bank apps), then mark it as paid.
When is Kittysplit the better choice?
If you want a one-off split where nobody signs up, need several currencies in one group, or want receipt photos on expenses, Kittysplit covers those and mateshare doesn't yet.
Got more than 9 mates?
Start a tab, invite the whole crew, and split as many bills as you like. Free, for good.
