A mate
for every split

Rent, trips, parties and dinners. Add what everyone owes, tick off who's paid, and settle up without the awkward maths.

What are you splitting?

How it works

Friends sharing pizza, wings and drinks around a table
  1. Pick what you're splitting

Housing, trips, parties, dining or something else. Each comes with sensible categories.

  2. Add your mates

Name them or send an invite link so they can join the tab.

  3. Add what everyone owes

Enter each expense and who it's shared between, evenly or with custom amounts.

  4. Tick off payments and settle up

Mark who's paid and watch the balances shrink to zero.

Why mateshare?

  • Fair splits, no maths

Split a bill evenly or set what each person owes. Rent for the big room, a dinner where one mate skipped dessert, it all adds up.

  • One number to pay

What you owe and what you're owed is netted across every tab, so you only ever pay someone the difference.

  • Everyone's in the loop

Invite mates with a link. They see the same tab, tick off what they've paid, and nobody has to chase anyone.

Questions

How does mateshare work out who owes what?

Each expense is split between the people you choose, evenly or with custom amounts. Your balance with each person is then netted across all your tabs, so if you owe Sam $20 on one tab and Sam owes you $5 on another, you owe $15.

Does everyone need an account?

Yes, a quick one. It keeps your balances tied to you across every tab. If you open an invite link without one, you'll be walked through creating an account and land straight on the tab.

Does mateshare move money?

No. It keeps track of who owes what and who's paid. You settle up however you like, then tick it off.

What if an amount doesn't divide evenly?

Splits are worked in cents and always add back up to the exact total, so nobody is left a cent short.

Can I use it for more than housemates?

Yes. Use it for trips, parties, dinners or anything else you share with other people. Pick the type that fits and add your own expenses.
